Snake Eyes

Venue Storyteller: Al Murphy gianteviljesus@gmail.com

Must have been something, once. You see that hooker on the corner? Yeah, that one; the one that you wouldnt consider touching on your worst moment on your worst day. Once upon a time, she mustve been something; for that golden moment, she was somebodys everything. Then time caught up with her, and no amount of painted makeup will ever disguise the scars left when the world stopped being hers. This part of town is just like that hooker; it must have been something, once. Now, of course, its better for our kind.

The cheap lights do their best to cover the fading paint, the cracks in the plaster, but only the junkies and the redneck tourists could ever be tricked into thinking that downtown is anything other than an old, tired whore, putting out for anyone who cares to do her. And we do her; we do her long, and hard, because we cant get better. Not every Kindred ends up rich; not every Kindred feeds off of wealthy, and beautiful, and powerful kine. In the craps game of life, we rolled snake eyes. But in losing, we have learned what others have forgotten. Those of us who live this way realize something those pretentious fools dont; blood is blood, and down here, amongst the junkies and lowlifes, we have more control over the streets than they will ever manage. We take what we need; we turn this old whore out so that our Danse Macabre is played to a better tune. Here, we rule.

Snake Eyes works to portray a more complete World of Darkness. Not every Requiem is spent at an art museum, hobnobbing with the rich and famous. This venue is aimed at the lowlifes of Kindred society; anyone on a losing streak, those who are poor, or associated heavily with the streets in various fashions. Large, fancy gatherings are not the cup of tea for Kindred in this section of society; as such, the backdrop for this venue will never be an art museum, or a grand ball, or even a night at the Elysium; instead, smaller gatherings ruled over by petty lords of the streets will be the standard. In addition to the normal game which will take place once a month, this venue will also have a variety of smaller side gatherings, with limited IC invites. These scenes will be arranged on a case by case basis between the VST and the various players of the VSS who wish to participate.

Ratings
Action (Combat & Challenges): 3 Often Present

Combat is not the primary focus of this venue, but in a story filled with the various elements of the streets, it is certainly not likely to be surprising when it breaks out. Regularly, there will be times when violence ends up being a means to communicate.

Character Development (Personal Dilemmas & Choices): 4 Usually Present
Darkness (PC Death or Corruption): 4 Usually Present

Nearly every game, and in virtually all side scenes, characters will be presented with unfair choices; options between the lesser of two evils. Living close to the streets of the World of Darkness regularly pushes one towards a steady downward spiral, and only the truly lucky or clever will find themselves able to consistently test themselves in such a fashion and come out the victor.

Drama (Ceremony & Grand Ceremony): 2 Sometimes Present
Manners (Social Etiquette & Peer Pressure): 1 Never Present

While the Storytelling staff will never force players to stop having their characters speak to each other in whatever fashion they choose, it should be noted that this is not the local venue for high society or grand ritual. These are the streets, not the boardroom or the ritual chamber. Try and act accordingly.

Intrigue (Politics & Negotiation): 3 Often Present
Mystery (Enigmas & Investigation): 4 Usually Present
Pace (How fast do stories resolve?): 4 Usually Present

Typically, any plot that is aggressively pursued will reach a satisfying conclusion rapidly. Obviously, some plots are far more long-term than others, but in general players will be able to reach the climax swiftly. Each plot will generally require a fair amount of investigation in order to decipher the needed resolution, and generally the resolution will not be achieved through simple brute force or ignoring the elements around the plot.

Special Statements:

The Storytelling Staff of this venue is not apologetic about the style of venue, or the events that occur within. In the World of Darkness, bad things happen to people without rhyme or reason, and if an event turns out poorly for a character, then that is what happens. This doesnt mean that the VST will be deliberately attempting to destroy characters and concepts; the plots will not deliberately target specific players; it simply means that plotlines will not be abandoned or left half-fulfilled in order to accommodate feelings. Death can and will happen. The VST recognizes that this means that this venue is not for everyone, and encourages players to seek the best venue for their needs.

Proxies:

Any member of the Camarilla who wishes to proxy their character to this venue may do so as long as they meet four requirements.

  1. An email indicating that the player wishes to proxy is sent to the VST no later than 2 weeks before the scheduled game.

  2. All approval items are listed with their respective number, and can be found in the database.

  3. A short description of how the character physically looks accompanies the character sheet.

  4. Detailed instructions on how the character reacts to being attacked, and detailed instructions indicating when the character will use any sort of supernatural power.
